Microaggressions I - “I didn’t mean to offend you!”

3 hours

Do you know what a microaggression is? Do you recognize one when it occurs? More importantly, do you have the tools to counter microaggressions when you witness or experience them? This course will provide an overview of microaggressions and the three distinct ways in which they occur as microassaults, microinsults, and microinvalidations. Additionally, you will learn to identify microaggressions and practical ways to counter them when they occur.

Learning to Learn

2 hours

We live in an era where calls for establishing “cultures of belonging” have become the norm. When creating a cultural climate of inclusivity, one must not only learn “about” diversity, but also develop the critical analysis and reasoning skills to (re)frame diversity’s complexities to shift the overall cultural paradigm. As we become skilled and insightful evaluators of our thinking, we increase our ability to address a variety of “diversity” issues effectively both and appropriately.

D.I.Y. Connections

Once a month

D.I.Y. (Do-It-Yourself) Connections are fun and engaging informal learning opportunities designed to serve as the “connective tissue” between “learning” about diversity, equity, and inclusion and implementing such practices. These activities provide the opportunity to incorporate DEI principles simply into your personal and professional life through collaboration, reflections, and communication.
